Spring break is nearly upon us and many people will forget their skin care routines when they hit the beach for vacation in the coming months. While traveling is a great opportunity to break out of your normal routine and have some fun, it is important that you keep up with your cosmeceuticals while you are away and avoid any damage as a result of your fun in the sun.
Protect Your Skin from the Sun
Spring break is usually full of time on the beach or by the pool. It is essential that you do not get so wrapped up in the good times that you forget to reapply your sunscreen. Sun damage can lead to several serious problems, including peeling, inflammation, wrinkles and, in some cases, even cancer. Use a minimum of SPF 30 every day, even if you do not think you will be sitting in direct sunlight. Remember to reapply every time you go in the water as well as every three hours regardless of whether you have gone swimming.
Limit Alcohol and Sweets
We all know that what we put in our bodies has as much of an impact on our skin as the products that we use. During spring break, it can be tempting to indulge in things like sweets and alcohol. However, keep in mind that these indulgences can have a serious impact on your complexion, leading to everything from fine lines to pimples. Do not undo all the work you’ve done on your complexion during the winter for a few days of fun.
Stick to the Plan
When we travel, it is easy to let go of some of our normal routines. However, you must maintain your healthy skin habits, even when you are away from home, having a good time. Make sure you bring your essential products with you, including your moisturizer and any serums that you might use. After a night of partying, you should at least use a makeup remover wipe to get makeup off the surface of your face and avoid clogged pores overnight.
